Who’s Stew?
Not much to say. I’m a graphic technician in the prepress industry for consumer packaging(Coke, Topps, Dr Pepper, Tropicana, etc) and a full time family guy. A fan of the DC/Marvel animated for many years since I was a kid and a pretty big Batman fan. Customizing is my way to continue my love of the comic books on the big screen by bringing them to life and showcasing them in my personal collection with the official released figures. JLU is the main collecting interest because of the mass selection of characters that Mattel makes of the DC Universe in a simple body base that is close to the looks of characters in the Justice League animated TV show. Probably the best collaboration of heroes and villains put into a TV animated series in my own opinion. I enjoy sharing my past time love of the cartoons with my kids in hope they may appreciate the shows also and continue the love.
Customizing is my main hobby when i get the free time to do so. It’s relaxing to me after a long day or week. Knowing that there are so many other customizers on the net with the same interests is very inspiring and gives me the drive to tackle other areas in the hobby that may enhance my skill level. Casting heads and body parts of JLU figures have developed another skill set that has helped me achieve some figures in a faster pace when i’m experimenting or just need a duplicate head cast to achieve the character in the making. Over the past few years I have developed some great friendships with a few of the best in the hobby, thanks to the internet. I admire all the different skill levels of technique these guys have.
About this site: Serves as an online custom showcase to demonstrate what can be created with the figures and how they can be parted out. It’s constantly updated with additional info about how a particular custom is made, so check back often as a custom is added or a custom page updated with info. Its also a place for me to share my other interests besides customizing.
Why 2 custom sections?
The “custom garage” section is just a section of graphic backgrounds and old random customs i made that were made a long time ago or that i think is not that great. I am my own worst critic when it comes to making customs. Some are good and some are just slapped together. The “pegboard gallery” section of the garage is basically a virtual display case of customs on a graphic cards to resemble figures hanging on a peg. I like to play with photoshop a bit and this was a way to combine the 2 together for fun. Only the ones that i think are good enough deserve the official card treatment.
so you may see duplicate customs in the garage with different graphics applied or just some old crappy custom that didn’t make the cut but still gets a spot on the site.
The “Custom Collection” section is where you get the background on customs. this is a constant update with new creations and maybe some past popular ones.
The Casting Corner Store:
This is my way to help other customizers get head duplicates for repaints or sculpting bases at a low price. I try to provide what i can. So check it out if you are looking for a particular cast.
What Else? Well, if you dont know, I’m the webmaster for dchallofjustice.com/customjustice.com along with Christophe. We run a collaboration of ideas that involve DC Universe toys and custom toys in relation to each other and building a community driven website. Although Christophe is the info designer and toy point man, I’m the man behind the scene that develops the sites sections and navigation. The tech duties can be intense but well worth it with the help of a few other Admins maintaining other public areas, Darryl, Shawn and Jack keeps things up to date with info, expansions and keeping the forum running smoothly so i can do my thing. Having a place on the net for all that collects, customize, read comics, like superheroes in general, interact with others or just see what all the hoopla is about. It’s a site that just keeps growing.
